It’s a vibrant, historic village centred on the Market square and St. Andrews Saxon church.The village has a selection of unique independent shops, renowned pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as lovely walks by the river. The village is situated in the Tyne Valley, just 20 miles to the West of Newcastle and 3 miles to the East of the Market Town of Hexham. It is the perfect base to explore Hadrian’s Wall as well as everything that Newcastle upon Tyne has to offer. Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads Fort are nearby, whilst the market town of Hexham is well worth a visit, with its narrow streets, selection of shops and fascinating abbey boasting 15th century paintings and a fine Saxon crypt. The Border Country, Northumbrian coast, Kielder Forest with cycling and watersports, Beamish Open Air Museum and Durham Cathedral are all within easy distance.
